The Labour and Economic Development Research Institute of Zimbabwe (LEDRIZ) is an initiative of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), which started operating in September 2003. It is registered as a trust and is governed by a board.
Their mission is to strengthen the capacity of the labor movement to influence national policies that protect and safeguard rights, and advance and promote interests of the working people in Zimbabwe. The main objective of LEDRIZ is to develop, through research, well-grounded pro-working people policy positions designed to influence development processes and outcomes at national, regional and international levels.
Advancing decent work for women in Zimbabwe
The work LEDRIZ does within the Women@Work Campaign will contribute towards strengthening and advancing decent work for women working in the horticulture sector of Zimbabwe and to influence processes to achieve enjoyment of women workers’ rights and a decent work-rich environment in the horticulture sector. Thus, the project will identify the challenges to decent work and constraint in achieving decent work, and offer recommendations towards addressing the identified challenges.
The project will undertake the following activities:
- Evidence-based research on the nature and extent of casualization and decent work in the horticulture sector;
- Validation workshop.
